Lundin For Africa
Non-Profit Doesn't Have To Be Non-Exciting
Created July 2006
Lundin for Africa is a non-profit organization dedicated to the African people in helping them regain their lives and maintaining their well being. They provide water and nourishment to small villages, plant water pumps and wells, as well as provide shelter for young children, victims of rape, and disheveled women. As noble as they were, their identity system was in poor shape, not having been updated since the early 90's. They needed to be modernized, in order to appear more current, as well as to be as well respected as they deserved to be.
The logo redesign came from the forms of 3 different objects. The stylized pot represents a way of transporting water to those in need, giving nourishment and health to the people. The heart represents a love for the people of Africa, and LFA's warmth and care for the underprivileged. The entire logo is shaped to represent a badge or ribbon, giving respect to the African people in what they've gone through in the past and in their homeland, elevating them to the position of heroes.
An entirely new stationery and print system was designed using the new identity, from stationery paper, envelopes and business cards, to a CD/DVD, seasonal news letter and brochure, to a package design for all the components to be given out to supporters.
Colour was based off of LFA's core service of providing water to small villages, and emulates a cool, refreshing liquid feeling. Type used is Trade Gothic, selected for it's bold commanding shapes and straight forward lines. It is both nondescript and unique in appearance.
